The Tremendous Twos

My son is two and it seems like in the past couple of weeks he has turned into a little monster. He is starting to really talk and is saying words like NOW and SELF basically he wants things right now and he wants to do this by himself and if he can't all hell breaks lose. Seriously up to a few weeks ago he was the sweetest, cutest boy in the world wide world and he still is until he opens his mouth. I'm just kidding it's not that bad but the kid does have his moments.

So what is a single mother to do if she is doing everything in her power to help her son to behave and stop throwing fits. Well I can let you in on a little secret. After a couple days of NO, NOW and SELF I have learned to pick my battles and my son has a brand new naughty seat. I designated a place for time outs and well if he wants to say no when I ask him to do something he goes in time out. If he says now he must say please afterwards, and if he wants to try things by himself I let him and if he can't do something then he asks me for help.

Also I have learned to avoid saying No and Don't you see instead of saying don't whine I say talk nice and say please and this seems to be working. When I am positive and do not focus on the negative he seems to act better and more pleasant and I must report that I have experienced less drama and fits from him and all it took was being positive.
